Speaking of tiny details, the drinks you serve at the wedding reception will surely be delicious, but they can also be pretty. When you make drinking straw flowers youll serve drinks that are refreshing and beautiful at the same time. Youll be amazed at how the flowers will brighten up the drink and the party.

Baking cups, used for making cupcakes, are perfect for making straw flowers. Theyre available in zillions of designs and colors, from neon shades, to metallic types and more. Use them to make parts of the flower. In addition to the baking cups purchase a much smaller version. These tiny cups, often called candy or nut cups, will help make the rest of the flower. In addition to the cups youll also need some pretty green paper. Check the scrapbook section of a craft store; youll often find paper with a leaf motif. The perfect straws for making the flower embellishments are the ones which bend. That way, the flowers you add to the straw wont be coming in contact with the face. To start, cut leaf shapes and poke a hole at one end. Dont make large holes in the leaves; they should slide snugly over the straw. Slide one or two onto the straw. Flatten a baking cup and use it as the outer petals. Poke a hole in the center and slide it onto the straw, positioning it on top of the leaves. Poke a hole in the center of a candy cup and slide it onto the straw to finish the flower. You can make all sorts of different flowers by cutting some of the baking cups to have large or small, scalloped edges, pointed petals or even heart shapes. Make additional petals by flattening the candy cups, cutting either of the cup types down to smaller sizes, or combining plain cups with metallic ones. Its really easy to make assorted flowers in different colors by using various colors of baking and candy cups. Combining different colors and types, plus cutting the edges to have various shapes, you can literally make hundreds of different straw flowers without making the same one twice.
